For teachers: free primary science explainers
Ask Eartha gives your class kid-safe answers to nature questions, plus explainers and activities mapped to Australian Curriculum v9 Science and HASS, Foundation to Year 6.
Australian Curriculum alignment
Each question page carries a "for grown-ups" note naming the year band, the strand and the concept the child is actually learning. In the live app you choose the year level and topic, and Eartha frames her answers and quiz around it.
- Foundation: Our five senses, what living things need, daily weather, caring for our place.
- Year 1-2: Habitats, life cycles, light and sound, water use, reduce reuse recycle.
- Year 3-4: Living and non-living things, heat, day and night, food chains, weathering, waste.
- Year 5-6: Adaptations, the solar system, states of matter, energy, protecting habitats.
Classroom climate education activities
Climate content is written to be hopeful and action-oriented: composting, saving water, planting trees, renewable energy. It gives students something to do, not something to fear.
Three ways to use it in a lesson
- Set the year level and topic on the board, then take five student questions as a warm-up.
- Project a question page, read the quick answer aloud, then run the "try this" activity in groups.
- Finish with Quiz Time — five questions generated from the topic you just taught.
Printing and sharing
Question pages print cleanly to one page for a reading rotation or homework take-home. They are free to use, with no login required for students.
